Nestled in the quiet hills of Mt. Sterling, Missouri and built in 1896 is a beautifully historically renovated one room schoolhouse which turns 124 years young in 2020 . Of the seventy schoolhouses that popped up around Gasconade County to educate the rural children of the era, Mt. Sterling School was the last to close it's educational doors in 1963. The school is situated on a lovely one acre lot (as was custom when a farmer sold an acre with county road frontage so that a schoolhouse could be erected). The grounds are manicured with a park like appearance. The owners have also added a cedar pavilion to house the numerous bands that have played there for wedding venues and family reunions. The electrical service has been updated to accommodate bands and caterers for those that may choose to purchase this beautiful property for venues or for those wanting a one room cabin weekend getaway. Along the back is "Big Toe Creek" that adds a flavor of rural ambiance complete with a one room cedar cabin on the property for any guest that may like to stay overnight as well.
